What is spa etiquette?

Spa etiquette is what is expected of you the client when visiting a spa.

Arrive on time (usually at least 10 minutes before your booking time)
Technically you can arrive anytime you like as long as you are happy to pay for any time lost because of your lateness.  When booking for a massage, spa treatment or beauty therapy service what you are really paying for is time.  It is not acceptable to think everything can be re-arranged to suit your lateness (no matter what your excuse).  Why should the therapist work through their break or the next client have to wait for you.

If the booking conditions state "please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time", then please arrive 15 minutes before, not 10, 5, or zero.  You may have forms to fill out, there may be instructions on how to use equipment such as a spa, etc.  If you do arrive late you will loose appointment time.  Be early and take full advantage of your appointment time.

Think of it like going to the movies - the movie starts on time whether you are there or not.  Would you expect everyone in the theatre to start again just for you?

Day Spa numbers are growing incredible fast as the market becomes ever more demanding for an escape from the stresses of everyday life.  Services include massage, facials, spa, wraps, vichi showers, mud baths and much more.  Massage has so many strings to it's bow it would be hard to name them all but many of the well known styles are swedish, relaxation, remedial, hot stone, aromatharapy, deep tissue and hawaiian.  Beauty Therapy is similar in nature to Day Spas but usually offer traditional services including waxing, skin analysis, eyelash tinting and makeovers.
